I am currently interning with the University of Louisville Campus Housing as a Conference Director for their summer camps and conferences. It is wonderful here, the students and staff are tremendous and it is an entirely different culture from Warrensburg, Missouri. Louisville is a much larger city and the campus is situated right next to the busier part of the city.
Warrensburg was wonderful and I was able to have a multitude of experiences that I would not have necessarily had if I had gone to another University. Looking back on my 4 years (yes, a degree can be achieved in 4 years), I did a heck ton of things. I really have no idea how I did it all, I wanted to so I did. There was a lot of debate of what I would do after I graduated, but I have always had one underlying interest that really solidified my decision.
I enjoy new experiences. Although I am an incredibly angsty person, I like trying new things and I felt too comfortable at UCM. I wanted to see and do more, and I know that if I stayed at UCM, I would still want to be involved in everything that I was involved in. I was getting tied back into things my senior year, saying yes to adding a lot of new things on my plate. I don't regret saying yes and doing those things, but it wasn't new. I was not gaining anything from it, I was just repeating the motions that I had already known. Leaving UCM meant new experiences.
And I do. I love what I am doing at UofL and I am going to enjoy what I do in the Fall. I am going to learn about new institutions and meet individuals and I am excited about it. Leaving UCM was the best decision and I know that the upcoming years will be what I want.
