And as a little bit of background, I used to love lemons. But since I got sick because of lemon flavored water in junior high, that is no longer the case. It's nearly a late developed allergen now. So I've been trying to handle this as well as I possibly can. And that is going. I can't necessarily say if it is positive or negative at this point, but it is going.
So beyond word play, I wanted to mention the positives that I am thankful for.
First, I have recently connected with a friend that has every reason to not talk to me, but is.
Next, when I was riding with this friend in Colorado recently, a vehicle let us turn ahead of him. And it wasn't just him stopping early to allow room. He backed his vehicle up to allow it. I have never seen anything like that before. It wasn't just kindness, he went out of his way to be kind.
I've had two interactions with officers in the middle of Kansas lately. Both on the stretch between Hays and Salina. And both showed kindness not only in their interaction, but going above in helping me. I am thankful for the hotel receptionist who gave me a discount out of kindness and the housekeeper who expressed concerns for me going out in the cold with wet hair. And the dealership employees who kept me updated regularly and helped me figure out what I was going to do. These are all people who I don't really know who cared. Beyond these individuals actions and words, there are several of them. There are good people.
And there are many more individuals who I do know and who have helped consistently and tremendously.
But finally, I wanted to thank someone that I do not give enough credit to. I want to thank past me for preparing current me for everything that has been thrown at me. Past me cares enough when present me can't. And for having my back, present me is grateful.
So beyond what I am thankful for, I wanted to share this video of more positive things in this world. It is a video from Philip Defranco's YouTube channel. He has been a large influence on my life for the past six years, sharing information and getting me to think of other viewpoints. This video shares some light.
